Filmmaker. Camera Operator. Editor

the basics

My interest in filmmaking began more than 30 years ago when I first started pointing a home video camera at my family and friends, though I hadn't realized it at the time.  It wasn't until late in high school when I discovered linear tape editing that it clicked.  I was fascinated at how you could string a few shots together and create a scene, create meaning, and entertain people.  After an ill-guided attempt at computer science in college, I knew without a doubt that filmmaking was my calling and promptly began studying film production at Penn State.

In the 20+ years since college, I have worked in many production roles including grip/PA, location audio, camera assistant, camera op, jib operator, Steadicam op, DP, gaffer, lighting director, and director.  My work ranges from social media pieces and 30 second spots, to hour long PBS documentaries, and independent feature films.
